In today’s context, the link between the business practices and the environment are of particular importance. As environmental risks and opportunities make their way to the centre stage in policy discourses and business management, the issue has acquired greater urgency. The deleterious effects of harmful and unsustainable practices has sounded a call for innovative solutions from all stakeholders.
At its most basic, sustainability in business is about making responsible decisions which take into account the impact of one’s choices and focus on reducing their negative impact on the environment. Some of the world’s biggest companies are disclosing their emissions and other energy metrics in a bid to be judged favorably by consumers. So, is being environmentally friendly simply about good PR or just good business?
